Pittsburgh Christmas events span a six-week period start begins with Light Up Night. This year the magic will continue in downtown Pittsburgh as well as the surrounding areas. From Santa Claus to Christmas carols to dazzling displays of lights the holiday season featuring Pittsburgh Christmas events are sure to have something for every member of the family. The following is a list of some of the upcoming events you will not want to miss.
- Holiday Weekends in Downtown Pittsburgh: Every Saturday from the 20th of November through the 19th of December there will be all types of events in the downtown area. Guaranteed to get you in the Christmas spirit, there will be all kinds of promotions, street performers, carolers and you can enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride for free! Ride the Fifth Avenue Place Holly Trolley to get to all the Pittsburgh Christmas events for free as well.
- The Christmas Music of Mannheim Steamroller: Enjoy CLO’s A Musical Christmas Carol from December 8 through the 23rd. The much-loved traditional Christmas tale will feature the wonderful characters and songs of the season. This is a terrific holiday event for the whole family and tickets are half-price for the kids from 3 to 14.
- A Musical Christmas Carol – The Nutcracker – Pittsburgh Ballet: From the 10th of December through the 26th, the Nutcracker, a holiday favorite set in old-time Pittsburgh will delight you as well as the rest of the family with this charming, old-fashioned story.
- The Nutcracker – Straight No Chaser Holiday Show: Pittsburgh Christmas events will include The Nutcracker on December 14th and 16th as this a cappella group entertains audiences. Especially enjoyable is their version of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” in the style of Toto’s “Africa. Their distinctive version is a favorite and will be a great treat for everyone.
- Straight No Chaser Holiday Show – Holiday Pops: Caroling with the PSO from December 16th through the 19th will feature favorite Christmas songs. This is a holiday tradition that is an annual event in Heinz Hall. Spectacularly decorated in the fashion of the season, this will be a wonderful time to remember your favorite memories of holidays past.
